Mar 18, 2019 Windows 7 VMWare ISO System Requirements and Technical Details. Once you know the features of an operating system or software, the next thing you need to know about it is if the software is compatible to function on your system. To make the analysis easy for you, here is a list of the top Windows 7 VMWare system requirements and other technical.
Same issues with VMWARE standalone converter. Wouldn't boot. I restored the windows backup image over the network last night to the VMWare host from a network share where it's backed up. It booted into recovery and attempted to repair the boot issues but couldn't. Other then calling in a favor with a hefty fee from a local contact or something this is the only option that I have.
The local machine reports it cannot find a boot device. If I was there I could likely repair and move forward but I'm not and can't get there for at least a couple days. I'll try and post more detail on that error.a clearer picture. Rod-IT wrote:If that Win7 machines uses RAID (even if not in use, if the BIOS says it is enabled) you may need to inject the right drivers for it, IRST (Intel) etc.Or during that guest booting, keep pressing F8 and go to safe mode, remove the IDE/AHCI controllers and let windows re-detect them on boot.Safe mode doesn't even work booting from VMWare. I'm in the process of contacting some local support. Pleasant weekend for that to happen even if I can get someone.
This is whatever it takes though. Since I'm not there to boot into safe mode on the machine itself I cannot speak to that aspect. The physical machine reports not being able to find the boot device. This was after the UPS it was plugged into apparently had some issues. Jeff79 wrote:Anyone had any luck restoring a physical Windows Image Backup to a VM (Win 7 Pro to an ESXi 5.0 host)? Just wondering what to expect.
There are a few things on the community about it but not much detail. Dell Optiplex Workstation was the physical machine.#1. Restore the image. Leave it off.#2. Install Converter Standalone on a separate windows PC.#3. Use the Converter to convert your restored image. I want to say you use 'Configure Machine' instead of 'Convert Machine' to change the image.
In Source System, select VMware Infrastructure Virtual Machine, put in the VM host server IP, then select the image machine and the options you want.#4. After the image is converted, you should be able to boot it.I once have to do this for a ghost.gho image, it worked fine afterward. Well Windows 7 full image had a somehow corrupted Media ID and windows 7 recovery wouldn't detect the image. I tried to repair this file with a tool to no avail.
Had a full image backup from 3-29. I finally secured dev time for him to rebuild.

I was able to get into the backup image and restore the Tomcat configuration and directories for him along with all of our templates. What could have taken 8 hours took 3 because I was able to get at the files. In theory I should have been able to restore a win 7 image to a different hard drive to get the server back up and the run converter or like was said above convert offline to save time. However being way off site I would have had my on site backup tech do this.I'll post more details later but thanks for the responses.
